Our Sacred Land Cultural Gathering

This Gathering was held on May 31st & June 1st of 2019 and was an experiential event where participants engaged in healing workshops and connected to the land. The guest speaker was Eugene Harry, who generously shared his Creation Story with us. We were also blessed to have two amazing dance groups join us: the Tree of Life Dancers and the Sasquatch Dancers.

Along The Walking Path Cultural Gathering

This gathering which was held on June 2nd & 3rd, 2017 focused on importance of Traditional Teachings. Dr. Lee Brown touched and inspired many with his presentation, "On Emotional Competency". We were also blessed by the teachings of local Elders and Knowledge Keepers.

Naming Ceremony

On June 3rd, 2016, The Fraser Region Aboriginal Early Child Development Network (FRAECDN) held an Naming Ceremony at the Kwantlen First Nation Cultural Centre. Our day was led by Brandon Gabriel and Cheryl Gabriel, from Kwantlen First Nation.

The network received the traditional name qχeləc, nə́c̓əmat θəɬ kʷθə šxʷqʷeləwən, which translates to “Many Voices, One Mind” and represents the core purpose of our table.

The Fraser Region Aboriginal Early Childhood Development Network (FRAECDN) was formed

A Summary of our Accomplishments:

  • Network launched in 2003
  • Developed partnerships and relationships with the Ministry of Children and Family Development and other stakeholders
  • United urban and rural Indigenous Early Childhood Development (IECD) service providers
  • Worked to deliver Aboriginal Supported Child Development (ASCD) and Aboriginal Infant Development Programs (AIDP) in Indigenous communities in the Fraser Region
  • Worked to increase awareness and accessibility of IECD, ASCD and AIDP in the Indigenous community
  • Developed Terms of Reference for the Network
  • Completed strategic plan for the Network
  • Developed cultural materials
  • Developed network website
